I loved the Fundação de Serralves in Porto on a visit this summer. A variety of contrasting exhibitions, beautifully-lit spaces, peaceful with just enough people enjoying the art. Set in the wonderful grounds of the original villa’s luxurious gardens.

And a fantastic lunch restaurant too.

But oh! the interpretation. Translated in to perfect English, but rendered incomprehensible by the over-intellectual, conceptualising *arts b*****ks* of the content. I have literally no idea what any of the text panels or labels meant. And that’s after 3 years of trying to turn gallery educator’s screeds into plain English for the average gallery visitor.

Above is a brief example of the name of a small display in the education spaces. Who knew it could turn out to be so much fun inside?
